MELBOURNE, Australia, Nov. 1, 2012 – SunPower Corp. (NASDAQ: SPWR) today announced the availability of its world-record efficiency SunPower™ E20 Solar Panel (E20 solar panel) in Australia. It is the industry’s first to achieve a total area efficiency of 20 percent.
The 96-cell E20 solar panel, delivering 327 watts of electricity, is available for residential, commercial and utility installations and is manufactured using SunPower's patented Maxeon™ cell technology, the highest efficiency solar cell commercially available on the market today. The all-back contact Maxeon solar cell captures significantly more sunlight and conducts more electrical current than a conventional solar cell.
"SunPower’s E20 solar panel holds the world record for efficiency and generates more electricity than any other solar panel on the market,” said SunPower Managing Director Chris O’Brien. “Under SunPower’s new 25-year product and performance warranty, our solar panels deliver the greatest return on investment for the lifetime of the system."
Customers will also benefit from two new features offered by the E20 solar panel: positive power tolerance rating and comprehensive inverter compatibility. The positive power tolerance rating ensures that the power generated by each panel meets that panel's rating, or up to five percent more – but not less, as is common in the industry.
With comprehensive inverter compatibility, SunPower customers have the flexibility to use the highest performing transformer-less inverters to maximize system output. Transformer-less inverters are light-weight, easy to install and cost-effective.
The high-efficiency SunPower E20 Solar Panel is available globally, including the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia.
