Tenesol and ADEV Solarstrom AG Inaugurate Two Solar Power Systems
Hangar Rooftops at Grenchen Airport Now Generating 300 kW of Clean Energy

LYON, France, June 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ADEV Solarstrom AG and Tenesol, the global solar power provider acquired by SunPower Corp. earlier this year, are celebrating the completion of two photovoltaic systems totaling 300 kilowatts (kW) at Grenchen Airport located in Grenchen, Switzerland.

Both systems are owned by ADEV Solarstrom AG, a company specializing in the planning, financing, construction and management of decentralized, environmentally-sound energy systems, which is renting the hangar roof space from the airport where the solar panels have been installed. Local utility, Stadtwerke Grenchen (SWG), will purchase the solar electricity for distribution to the grid.

"With the installation of these two solar power systems, Grenchen Airport and SWG have displayed a commitment to clean energy and an interest in enhancing sustainability efforts within the community," said Claude Escala, European director at Tenesol. "This airport hangar solar project is a great example of how solar can help commercial building owners capitalize on underutilized roof space and potentially save on energy costs."

Tenesol manufactured and designed the systems after being awarded the contract from Air Total Switzerland SA, which has a long-standing customer relationship with Grenchen Airport. Two Swiss companies completed the installations: Dimension Solaire, located in the city of Rosé in the canton of Fribourg, and Kampfer, located in Grenchen in the canton of Solothurn.

The first system is 160 kW on a flat roof with 714 solar panels installed at a fixed tilt to increase energy capture. The second is a 141-kW system with features the S-TE Integra Max with 576 solar panels integrated into the roof structure.
