SunPower Names Douglas J. Richards Vice President of Human Resources

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct 25, 2007 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- SunPower Corporation (Nasdaq: SPWR), a Silicon Valley-based manufacturer of high-efficiency solar cells, solar panels and solar systems, today announced that Douglas J. Richards has joined the company as its vice president of human resources. In this role, Richards is responsible for leading all Human Resources (HR) initiatives, driving Corporate Administrative Services and managing SunPower's Facilities organization worldwide.

Richards brings more than 21 years of experience developing and driving key HR programs for Fortune 100 companies and venture-backed startups alike. These programs include: offering business and strategy development, recruiting top talent; creating senior level compensation plans, executive and management development, and establishing effective work cultures.

Prior to joining SunPower, Richards was vice president of human resources and administration for SelectBuild, a $1.8 billion wholly owned subsidiary of BMHC, a company that serves 19 of the top 25 high-volume home builders. During his tenure, he was responsible for developing the industry's best recruitment practices, performance management programs, and compensation and administrative systems. Previously, Richards was senior vice president of human resources and business operations at BlueArc, where he focused on developing and driving human resources business plans and strategy in a high- impact leadership role. Earlier in his career, he served as vice president of human resources, Organization and Environment at Compaq Computer Corp., and manager, corporate environmental, health and safety at Apple Computer, Inc.

Richards graduated from California State University, Chico, with a bachelors of arts degree in public administration.
